Local stuff

There has been a general increase in wintering birds the last couple of weeks with a fair few Fieldfare and particularly Redwings and Blackbirds around now, Cormorants have returned with one or two blogging up and down the river and there is more activity around the Cornfield NR although it is still mainly Tree Sparrows at the moment, a patch tick for me here though on November 2nd when I had a Wood Lark flying round for a few minutes before heading off over towards Rawcliffe Ings.

Rawcliffe Lake has been quite eventful this past week with several sightings of hunting Sparrowhawks, a pair of Wigeon joined the resident Mallards yesterday and a drake Shoveler and drake Goldeneye dropped in this morning plus a skein of 70+ Pinkfeet flew south, just one adult Great Crested Grebe with the juvenile remains.

rushed back for the camera but the Goldeneye flew off before I got a pic
