Another fairly
quiet month although there are certainly signs of Spring on its way, lots of
birds singing and pairing up and plenty of activity at the Heronry over the
river on Acomb Ings. Still at least three Cormorants
in their favourite roost tree all month and a couple of good Raptor sightings
included a female Peregrine over
Clifton Park on the 10th scattering the Pigeons and Corvids when
it dive bombed them and a Buzzard on
the 24th, once again very few winter Thrush sightings and they only included a handful of Redwings but there was still a good number of Finches and Buntings at the Cornfield NR, the three Corn Buntings remaining till mid-month and the flock of Linnets returning at the months end. The
two Roe Deer have again featured regularly
in and around the Cornfield NR throughout.
Maggie inspecting the river late afternoon, a couple of Cormorants can just be made out on their favourite roost tree over the river |
