A mid-afternoon
dash over to Scarborough with Mark after a Redstart
found feeding around the gardens of Norwich Close, Scalby over the last few
days had turned out to be a 1st winter Eastern Black Redstart, it wasn't looking good when we got there, the
bird had been missing for more than an hour and the light was already starting
to fade then after a while one of the residents came out to inform us it was in his back garden which he also allowed us to view, we watched it there for about 5 mins then it flitted out and back to one of its favoured areas at the end of the close, a very smart looking bird it
performed well often giving a lovely soft call and although light levels had
got very low it came close enough to get some reasonable record shots.
