Spent the morning at Fairburn Ings, good amount of stuff on the main lake but no sign of any Smew today, a lot of birds were attending the feeders by the visitor centre but the light wasn't brilliant and eight White Fronted Geese at Lin Dyke kept their distance.
After lunch I headed over to Sands Lane Gravel Pits at Mirfield near Dewsbury where the Ring Billed Gull from last Winter has returned, it has become more of an afternoon bird over the last couple of weeks and sure enough at around 2pm it flew in and joined the other Gulls on the little Island, a good number of Goosander also present. I decided to finish the day at Blacktoft for the Raptor roost, I had an added bonus of a couple of Long Eared Owls but the roost itself was disappointing just nine Marsh Harriers and a Merlin.
